Women’s Employment Network to honor Mary O’Connor and Country Club Bank with the 2022 Beth K. Smith Award

Kansas City, MO (Mar. 2, 2022) — Women’s Employment Network (WEN) recently announced the 2022 recipients of the Beth K. Smith Award — Mary O’Connor and Country Club Bank. O’Connor will receive the distinguished honor at the WEN Annual Luncheon on April 14th at the Sheraton Crown Center.

The Beth K. Smith Award was established in 2010 by the WEN Board of Directors to honor individuals and/or corporations who share a common vision of supporting women in our community and who are committed to advancing the mission of the WEN: to help women raise their self-esteem and achieve economic independence through sustained employment.

“We are pleased to announce this year’s honorees, Mary O’ Connor and Country Club Bank,” said Sherry Turner, WEN President. “Mary O’Connor and her team, along with Country Club Bank, have been involved with WEN throughout the years on so many levels. Their passion for WEN’s success has meant the world to our team and the women we serve in our community. We look forward to recognizing their outstanding commitment on stage at our luncheon in April.”

For over 20 years, Mary O’Connor and Country Club Bank have supported WEN’s mission through board service, committee work, volunteering and sponsorship of two signature events — annual luncheon and KC's Got Talent. In 2019, the biggest impact for WEN was the recent partnership in providing a new physical space to house all programming and services. This has allowed WEN to be more visible in the community, provided more space to serve clients, and the enormous gift of having a secure space WEN can settle in for the foreseeable future.

“On behalf of myself and Country Club Bank, it is such a privilege and honor to be recognized by WEN, the real change agent," said Mary O'Connor, EVP, Creative Brand Management for Country Club Bank. "…I’m looking forward to seeing all of you at what I know is a great opportunity to recognize WEN and the amazing women you help every day. I am truly appreciative beyond words.”

The 2022 WEN Luncheon will be held on Thursday, April 14th at the Sheraton Crown Center, Grand Ballroom (2345 McGee Street), beginning 11:45 a.m. The Luncheon is Karen Daniel, Business and Civic Leader, and Stacey Paine, President of Crown Center.
